New & Not So New in Vancouver is a free networking event for people that have just arrived in Vancouver or have been in the city for a while and want to meet new people.
We invite 'Team Leaders', who are a great group of well-settled members of the community to come along and share tips, advice and their experience with newcomers to the city.
Making friends, getting jobs and finding accommodation is hard in Vancouver so we run this event on the last Wednesday of every month to give people a place to meet and support one another. We hold a free giveaway at every meetup so call down to Donnellan's from 5pm for the chats and great company!

New & Not So New in Vancouver was set up in February 2023 by IRL Group and runs on the last Wednesday of every month at Donnellan’s Irish Pub from 5pm-7pm. There are no membership costs, charges, or fees. Attendees just have to reserve a spot on Meetup.
The goal of the event is to bring together Vancouver newcomers and long-time members of the community. This has created a diverse and inclusive environment, which fosters a sense of belonging for all. By facilitating connections between newcomers and established residents, we're building a stronger, more integrated community that helps to support people with their growth and well-being.
Some of the main issues newcomers face is securing jobs, making friends and finding accommodation. We aim to help these people by bringing them together with those that have lived in the community for a long time. Many of our attendees have benefitted hugely from the event; finding friends, social groups, jobs and accommodation!
For each event, we invite a great group of well-settled people to come along as ‘Team Leaders’ to share their insights, advice and tips for making the most of life in the city. Team Leaders visit each table of newcomers for about 10 minutes at a time. This gives everyone an opportunity to ask questions and get the most out of the event. We have a free giveaway with great prizes and complimentary food and refreshments at each event.
